[Munenori Makino] 1940-
While inheriting the traditional woodblock printing techniques represented by Ukiyo-e, he has carved out his own unique path in the world of creative woodblock prints, expressing himself with his own sensibility.
Munenori Makino's works often feature the beauty of nature and the Japanese seasons, depicting scenes such as moonlight, the flow of wind, and the rustling of trees in a quiet world that evokes the feeling of reciting poetry. His greatest characteristic is that he handles everything from drawing to carving and printing by himself. In the world of woodblock prints, where division of labor is common, this style is extremely rare and demonstrates his high technical skill and deep commitment as an artisan.
He continues his creative activities to this day, and his works are not only beautiful but also leave a lasting impression, conveying a deep sense of life within their tranquility.
