Siberia Series Yasuo Kazuki New Year's Card Print "The Twelve Zodiac Animals" Traditional Hand-Printed Woodblock Print

Excerpt from Centering on Words by Shuntaro Tanikawa
(Published by Soshisha, 1985)

Mr. Kōzuki sent me a New Year's card every year. Each postcard featured a witty, minimalist drawing of the year's zodiac animal. They were, without a doubt, the best New Year's cards we received. They conveyed a joy for life that was the flip side of the melancholy found in his Siberia series.

Product Description

Once you encounter Yasuo Kōzuki's representative works, the Siberia series, they deeply move your heart and remain etched in your memory. One day, I learned of the existence of his original New Year's postcards. They possessed a lightheartedness and joy that could never be guessed from the Siberia series. With permission from the Kōzuki family, I attempted to recreate them as woodblock prints and have been able to deliver them to many fans.

To celebrate the first Year of the Rat in the new Reiwa era, we have decided to re-release Yasuo Kōzuki's Twelve Zodiac Animals in the Reiwa edition. We will deliver them with renewed paper and a fresh perspective. Won't you spend the new year with these adorable animals?
