Meaning of Wild Pheasant on a Scorched Field, Crane at Night
This proverb is a metaphor for the deep love of a parent for their child.
Wild Pheasant on a Scorched Field: Even on a scorched plain, the mother bird will not leave her nest (eggs) and tries to protect her young.
Crane at Night: The crane that cries at night is derived from an old story (Bai Juyi's poem Five-Stringed Lute) that the parent's cry is a poignant sound of longing for their child.
