Description
A genuinely old framed Holy Matrimony marriage certificate featuring an ornate Victorian design with doves, cherubs, floral wreaths and a small wedding-scene vignette. The hand-filled text appears to read that Mr. William H. Gearhart and Miss Annie M. Taylor of Stringtown, Franklin County, State of Pennsylvania, were joined together in holy matrimony on the ninth day of October, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-something, with what reads as pastor N.L. Coller; some words are faint and hard to make out, so please read the photos for yourself. It sits in an old oak wood frame measuring roughly 14 by 18 inches, with a wooden plank backing and an old hand-twisted wire hanger shown in the photos. The paper is aged with foxing, water staining and toning, and there are edge tears and creases visible. There is no glass in the frame. An honest, worn antique piece with genealogy and ephemera interest. Sold as shown.
