Description
This piece features a small moku-gata tsuba with an iris design. The iris motif, carved into the surface, is beautifully rendered with fine line engraving. The iris flower, known for its net-like petal pattern, is called ayame in Japanese, which also means pattern or mesh. The tsuba has a lustrous finish, possibly silver, and is very attractive.
The material is believed to be silver, but this is not definitively confirmed.
