Vintage Ellgreave Heatmaster Teapot, Ditmar Urbach Cups Lusterware Tea Set

This coordinated set combines an English Ellgreave Genuine Heatmaster teapot with two Ditmar-Urbach cups made in Czechoslovakia. Although the pieces were made by different manufacturers, their beautiful white luster finishes and gold accents make them a remarkably lovely match.  The Ellgreave Teapot produced by Wood & Sons, has a beautiful pearlized iridescent finish with 22 karat gold accents on the handles, rims, knob and spout. The teapot is marked Genuine Heatmaster England on the bottom with Ellgreave and England embossed as well.  Comparable Ellgreave pearlescent Heatmaster teapots are commonly dated to the 1950s–1960s.  The two coordinating cups have the same pearlescent white finish with gold rims and handles. Both bear a faded crown-over-D backstamp with “Czechoslovakia” beneath, identifying them as Ditmar-Urbach pieces. Ditmar-Urbach used this mark during the 1918-1938 time period.  The teapot has overall crazing and minor wear to the gold details.  The teapot also has chips out of the inner ring beneath the lid. The chips are not visible when the lid is in place. The cups also show crazing and light age-related wear. Despite these imperfections, the grouping displays beautifully and would make a lovely addition to a vintage tea collection, china cabinet or romantic table setting.
